Moderation rules
What a moderator may reject, what they may not touch, and what is recorded.
Nothing appears until a person has read it
Reviews, comments, vendor replies, vendor applications, changes a vendor proposes to its own page, and any file uploaded are all held until a moderator decides. There is no automatic publication and no trusted-user route around it.
What gets rejected
- Anything that is not from experience of actually running the product.
- Abuse, or an attack on a person rather than an account of a product.
- Anything that identifies an individual by name.
- Confidential material: pricing under a non-disclosure agreement, contract terms, anything you were not free to publish.
- Marketing written as a review, from any direction.
A rejection requires a reason. The software refuses to record one without it, so that what happened can always be explained to whoever wrote the thing.
What a moderator cannot do
- Edit your words. A review is published or rejected. There is no path in the software that alters the text of a review while publishing it.
- Moderate their own company. A vendor account cannot hold the moderator role; the software refuses to grant it.
- Remove the record. Every decision, who made it and why, is written to an append-only trail that refuses to be edited by anybody, including us.
