What is meant by FIX connectivity?
The plumbing that carries orders and fills between a firm, its brokers and trading venues, using the FIX protocol. Includes the engine itself, session management, and the mapping between counterparties whose interpretations of the protocol differ.

Trading technology and operations.
What gets confused with FIX connectivity?
The execution management system that sits on top of it. Connectivity is transport; the execution system is the user-facing tool. Some vendors sell both and the line is not always visible from the outside.
What should you ask a vendor about FIX connectivity?
Onboarding time for a new broker is the number that matters, and it is rarely on the datasheet.
